Vine – video entertainment for Android

Vine – video entertainment is designed as video social network to share our short videos (up to six seconds).

Founded in June 2012 and acquired by Twitter in October 2012, Vine App is also available for Windows and iOS platforms.

To use this App, Login/Sign up is mandatory. We can signup with Twitter account or with Email. On completion of Sign In / Log In, we are navigated to the Home Page.

On Home Page, the latest videos uploaded from the users are listed out. The videos are set for auto play with Lazy Load (auto play only when the videos are displayed) and auto loop (auto replay on the completion).

Each Video display the name of the video creator, option to add him/her as favorite (with “+” sign next to profile image of creator) and follow their uploads, Featured Category (Cody Ko, Comedy, Music, Gaming Weird, Animals, Dance, Art, Sports, The Zone, Food, OMG, DIY, Places, News), Age of the video, Number of Loops viewed, Description, Option to similar videos (vines), Like, Comment, Share on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr or using Communication  Apps like WhatsApp, Email etc., Copy Link of the Video or to Block the videos from the creators.

Three options are available on the top of the App Page. With Message option, we view messages received by us. With Video option, we can upload the video. With options, we can search for content, Find the people, Mute/Un mute Audio and from the settings option, we can access profile page.

The videos can be uploaded with in built camera app of the Vine App. The special feature of the camera is that it records only while the screen is being touched, enabling users to edit on the fly or create stop motion effects. The other features include the facility to upload videos from Gallery, Changing from Rear to Front camera and vice versa, Option to save the recorded video. With Settings option on the Camera, we can enable or disable grid lines, focus, ghost image tool, flash on or off.

On the profile page, accessed from the Settings in the option menu, we can include description on self, Location, Links to Twitter or Facebook or Tumblr and change profile color, Email, Phone Number, Region, Password. We can access our Content, Notifications, Favorites. We can also send Invites using Email, Clear cache, Deactivate account or Log Out from account.

Coming to the content of the videos, the quality of the content of several videos is unique and excellent. Few videos are mediocre.

Vine App listed in Time’s 50 Best Android Apps for 2013 and BBC review described  that collections of Vine videos to be “mesmerizing”, like watching a bewildering carousel of six-second slices of ordinary life.

Overall, in our opinion, Vine App is best to view short videos for Americans. Please note that Vine App is rated at 17+ on iOS and 12+ on Android App. The content of the Vine is mostly for the Americans. If you like to view short and amazing videos, you may try this App.
